Today's Italian literature, with rare exceptions, takes place far from political and social issues. When it does, is within the framework of 'acceptable', in which distortions of the system can be criticized without challenging the system itself, let alone the international framework in which it is inserted. So there are numerous complaints of the Mafia and other organized crime, corruption, police violence of some of the degradation of civil life, and so on. To them, however, does not match, or is very rarely called into question a whole way of life under capitalism, or its direct consequence of worldwide imperialism. I can not think of any contemporary Italian novel (apart from a few pages of little-known authors) that depicts the current war in its many variations, the power of finance or on the side, a suburban life in which fascism and racism are back, overwhelmingly, to be part of everyday life. The answer to this deafening silence is, fortunately, from the bottom. Laspro is only four pages of a magazine distributed free in bookstores and in public social antagonism. It contains accounts of some of the authors in this collection. We move from surprise to surprise. Lacking the intellectual courage "to rank" emerges from the gaps, conflicts hidden and denied re-emerges with arrogance. Occupations, confrontations with police, militant anti-fascism, youth cultures irreducible. It 'not at all an Italy "pacified" - in the sense intended by the President of the Republic, the government, opposition has lost its political and cultural identity - one described (and experienced) to be very talented young writers. The picture resembles that of the seventies, but the tenacity of those who resigned did. And here that tell stories of those who, day by day, is committed to combating the spread in the urban jungle of the reaction, winning stretches of territory and defend it tooth and nail. In the presence of a soft repression only in appearance, in fact systematic and relentless. Many story ends by reporting the results processes that have closed - temporarily closed - the episodes described in the text. In official disinterest, is growing a new generation of freedom fighters, who occupy houses and squares, claiming rights incompressible burial subvert the order in which they would lock up the school, are rebelling against new forms of slavery and the precariousness of the factory- jail. The real news, having previously very rarely, is that this generation will find yourselves in a time of struggle literature as effective as others. While the best-known cultural blog (not to mention the locations academic criticism, now the larval stage) there are questions wearily on 'commitment' the writer, and other similar topics are already old in the sixties of last century. This anthology is important, very important. Open hopes, challenge the current pessimism. Suggests that the battle ("The Clash") is not the future, but actually already in place. Who knows how to listen, can not escape the metallic clang of the guns of Brixton that, in the suburbs, thousands of young people are charging.
